Comnet was one of the
first systems and network consultant companies
to recognize the value and substance of
Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) including
the Blackberry wireless solution.
In 1988, we deployed the first
Blackberry wireless solution within the
Federal Government. Comnet's solution has
supported and continuing to support new
Blackberry models developed by Research
in Motion (RIM); this includes the GSM models
for international use and the Blackberry
7510 with Nextel's direct connecting feature
and speakerphone.
Comnet understands that mobile
computing changes the demands and dynamics
of the user community. We currently install
and support third-party utilities for the
Blackberry system enabling the device to
perform functionality such as continuity
of operations procedure storage, centralized
management and control of address book information
on user devices, etc.
The Blackberry device has
evolved into a mission-critical asset in
great demand by both public and private
sector organizations. The Blackberry system
is easy to set-up and considered user-friendly,
however back-end processing can be challenging
and complex. To minimize these potential
technical difficulties Comnet has integrated
the Blackberry solution with HP OpenView
scripts; this provides real-time event notification
and analysis of critical devices. As well,
we have set-up processes to switch over
to a redundant system in the event of a
Blackberry server failure to ensure continuity
of Blackberry data services.
